This yellow-bellied marmot was seen at Sedge Bay. Shortly after this photo was taken it stood up and, facing away from me, gave a warning call. Others chimed in. I waited a moment and then decided to leave. As I hoisted my tripod and camera/lens over my shoulder and turned to leave, a black wolf crossed within 30 feet of me. By the time I set the tripod down the wolf was in the trees. He was so close all I could have gotten was a part of his body. I usually carry a second camera and zoom lens along, but I didn't think I'd need it since I was only shooting marmots not far from my truck. Be prepared!
