Coyote, Yellowstone National Park

This coyote was photographed while it was hunting near the Lamar River. The coyote population in the northern range of the park, including the Lamar Valley, has been reduced by 30 to 50 per cent due to the reintroduction of wolves. Most of the coyotes in the northern range now live in packs of 6-7 animals with an alpha male and female.
