A screaming bald eagle awaits the morning feeding at Jean Keene's property in Homer, Alaska. Jean Keene, also known as "the eagle lady," fed eagles at her property on the Homer Spit each winter for over 30 years. She passed away on January 14, 2009.
The call of a bald eagle is high-pitched and shrill. The beak is one of its weapons. The tip is for tearing and the edges between the upper and lower mandibles are for cutting, much like a scissors.
